Responsibilities
General:
It is part of your role to understand and disseminate/communicate all corporate and hotel policies and standard operating procedures to the colleagues.
MOHG Code of Conduct requires that all business activities and business decisions comply with the general law, with all rules, regulations, and other requirements.
It is part of your strategy to fully understand and support in all aspects the Mandarin Oriental, Dubai Engineering Department Strategic Policy.
It is part of your role and your responsibility to fully support all learning and development activities.
You shall take all reasonable steps to safeguard stored information, and not divulge or otherwise transfer any personal data concerning the guests, customers or colleagues, or any confidential information concerning the hotel unless with the appropriate authority.
Use of the hotel s network, computers or internet access which is in the hotel s view unreasonable or inappropriate, for example gambling, chatroom, or pornographic material, is a serious breach of hotel policy and grounds for summary dismissal.
Support and adhere to all policies & procedures relating to Safe, Sound and Sustainable at Mandarin Oriental.
Ensure compliance with the MODUB Social Media Policy, i.e. to be fully responsible for the content you publish on any social media platform, including your personal site.

Act as a hotel ambassador always.
To carry out any additional duties requested by management, related to hotel operational activities.
Departmental:
Responsible to manage and coordinate the Safe Sound and Sustainable programme in the hotel covering Fire Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Security, Health & Safety, F&B HACCP, BCP & Risk Management, Spa Fitness & Wellness and Environment.
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines and MOHG FLSHSSE guidelines.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
Evaluate practises, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
Conduct training and presentation for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Report on health and safety awareness issues and statistic.
Conducts program reviews to determine compliance and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Manages programs necessary to comply with fire codes and standards applicable to the hotel facilities.
Work with all department heads and teams to build a comprehensive fire/ emergency drill program.
Collaborate with all department heads and teams to create and manage disaster preparedness program.
Manage any audits that arise with regulatory agencies on an as needed basis.
Maintain FLSHSSE records work to build efficient, streamlined process for management of required documentation. Provide completed reports and maintain logs as needed.
Coordinate small repairs to fire systems as necessary.
Collaborate with all department heads and teams to develop and implement proactive strategies and means to address and reduce safety risks.
Act as liaison for regulatory agencies, first responders, etc. as needed when issues arise.
Assist, as needed, with company initiatives and the ongoing results
Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the fire safety programs including the ability to assess current programs to identify new performance goals, strategies, and metrics.
Develop and implement control methods, procedures and programs to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of a loss.
Provide guidance and expertise regarding the Health and Safety programs.
Evaluates risks and develops guidelines for roles, training, measurements, and rewards for the management system in the areas of colleague safety (behaviours, conditions that lead to accidents); industrial hygiene (noise, lead exposure, hazard communication, etc.); property protection (fire suppression systems, inspection procedures, etc.); post Injury and General Claims Management (all lines); OSHA compliance (lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, OSHA record keeping, etc.); contractors; and job safety analysis.
Assure that the facility maintains compliance with regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain active safety committees with colleague involvement.
Participate in safety inspections, observations.
Stay abreast of developments in industrial safety and hygiene fields.
Effectively communicate safety and health issues throughout the organization.
Assist the Risk Management/OSH Committee in organizing and implementing occupational safety and health program at work place.
Act as Secretary to the Risk Management/OSH Committee.
Assist in regular inspection of all areas where food is served & prepared & monitors that HACCP guidelines are followed
To perform any other duties and responsibilities as required by the Director of Engineering or management as and when required.
Education & Certificates
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) Level 6 in Occupational safety and Health
Experience working in hospitality
Possess certification in HAACCP
Experience
At least 4 years of working experience in managing a health and safety function
Led and performed audits
Skills
Full functionality on appropriate software
Excellent planning and project management skills
Strong written and spoken communication skills
Good planning and organising skills
The ability to work as part of the team
A keen interest in health and safety
Outstanding recording and reporting ability
Knowledge in Fire Life Safety Systems
