Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The job purpose of an aviation firefighter is to perform rescue and firefighting techniques and tactics to

ensure safety and compliance with international and national standards, such as those set by the

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

This role involves responding to emergencies at an airport, ensuring the operational readiness of

firefighting equipment and vehicles, and conducting routine inspections and maintenance. Additionally,

aviation firefighters are responsible for managing risks, participating in training and development

programs, and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance

emergency preparedness and ensure a prompt response to incidents.

Training and Development

  1. Participate in educational Fire and Safety awareness programmes.
  2. Maintain level of physical fitness as per RAK policies and procedures.
  3. Attend identified development programmes for succession planning purposes.
  4. Undergo physical and theoretical training according to the Structured Learning Program.

Process

  1. Operate Fire Fighting and Rescue Equipment and Tools.
  2. Respond to all medical emergencies within area of jurisdiction and scope of training.
  3. Adhere to safety standards and practices when responding to/from incidents & accidents.
  4. Participate in fire, evacuations, medical and security drills, and exercises.

  1. Reports to the watch commander or leading fireman or his immediate superior.

All staff have the following safety responsibilities and are accountable to their supervisor(s) and the Head of Department:

To comply with the relevant safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Aerodrome Operations

Manual and Safety Management System and any other instructions or notices issued by Ras Al Khaimah

International Airport.

To comply with the safety requirements detailed within their training.

To advise their Head of Department and the Airport Duty Officer team of any safety occurrence or

system failure and to identify and report any situation of potential risk or concern affecting safety via

one of the following means.

  1. Report directly to the Safety Department or an immediate supervisor.
  2. Submitting an Accident/ Incident Report.
  3. Support safety audits as and investigations as they occur.

  1. Light UAE drivers license is highly advantageous.
  2. First Aid qualified and licensing is advantageous.

  1. Candidates should be in good general muscular development, with no marked obesity and medically fit.
  2. Should not be less than 1.65metres in height.
  3. Have good eyesight.
  4. Clean shaven (for the wearing of breathing apparatus).
  5. Fit for any manual work, including lifting, climbing and all firefighting related duties.
  6. Cannot be Claustrophobic, Acrophobic nor Hemophobia.
  7. Entry into service should not be older than 25 years of age.

Experience

Requirements 1 year airport experience in safety, firefighting would be advantageous.
