Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining an effective food supplier evaluation system for EKFC to ensure the safety of all purchased foods. This involves physical inspection and assessment of local suppliers and system audits (paper audit assessments) of overseas suppliers. The job holder will assess food suppliers against best practice in terms of food safety. The job holder is also responsible for dealing with all physical, chemical and microbiological issues or any other matter that may arise with any suppliers food product.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Maintain up-to-date list of all categories of food supplier in conjunction with Central Purchasing Department.
  2. Ensure all potentially hazardous local food suppliers are inspected at least once a year and non-hazardous local food suppliers every 2 years. Guarantee all overseas food suppliers complete EKFC*s supplier audit assessment document once a year.
  3. Investigate all food complaints or food safety related issues with concerned suppliers.
  4. Maintain comprehensive filing system for EKFC food suppliers for the purpose of inspection by airlines/auditors/municipality inspectors etc.
  5. Inspection of supplier delivery vehicles in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, temperature control, pest infestation, food product packaging and labelling.
  6. Report to Hygiene Manager or Asst. Vice President * Hygiene & Safety ways to improve food hygiene and food safety standards of food suppliers.

Desired Candidate Profile

GCE A-Level with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or Diploma in Food Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field is essential. Bachelor*s degree in environmental health, Food Safety, Food Science, Public Health, or an equivalent discipline is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years professional experience in food safety, food inspection, hygiene compliance, quality assurance, or related areas. Experience in food safety management systems, regulatory compliance, HACCP implementation, and/or inspection activities is highly desirable.

Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate technical information effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Self-motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong understanding of food safety standards, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements. Ability to work methodically, with high attention to detail and strong analytical judgement.
