Roles & Responsibilities

The Foreman / Chargehand – False Ceiling & Gypsum directly supervises skilled tradespeople and labourers carrying out false ceiling, gypsum partition, and painting works. This senior trade supervisor ensures installation quality, safe working practices, and programme adherence on site.


Key Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise teams of ceiling fixers, gypsum board installers, drylining operatives, and painters on assigned project areas.

  • Interpret and implement approved shop drawings, layout plans, and finish specifications for ceiling and partition works.

  • Plan and allocate daily work tasks; manage labour gang productivity and site work sequencing.

  • Ensure correct installation of suspended ceiling grid systems, T-bar layouts, bulkheads, and feature ceiling elements.

  • Monitor gypsum board fixing, screw patterns, taping, jointing, and finishing quality against specification.

  • Supervise surface preparation and paint application: confirm primer coats, intermediate, and top coats meet spec.

  • Manage material consumption on site; liaise with stores for timely material replenishment.

  • Enforce HSE procedures including working-at-height, scaffold/platform inspections, and PPE compliance.

  • Conduct first-line quality checks and assist Site Engineer with defect rectification and snagging.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Trade qualification in Interior Finishing, Drylining, or equivalent.

  • 3–10 years of UAE/GCC supervisory experience in false ceiling, gypsum partitions, and painting.

  • Hands-on expertise in suspended ceiling systems (Armstrong, USG, Knauf) and gypsum drylining.

  • Ability to read layout drawings and ceiling grid plans.

  • Strong leadership of site labour teams; effective communicator across multi-national workforces.
