Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Teach part-time French language courses at undergraduate level.
Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that support language acquisition and student confidence.
Develop and use appropriate teaching materials, activities, and assessments.
Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Support student learning through consultation, guidance, and academic support.
Contribute to course coordination, where required.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
Ensure that course delivery aligns with approved syllabi, learning outcomes, and university standards.
Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and professionally engaged teaching environment.

Required Qualifications

A Master s degree or PhD in French, French Studies, Applied Linguistics, Language Education, Translation, Modern Languages, or a closely related field.
Native or near-native proficiency in French.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Experience teaching French as a foreign or second language.
Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
Commitment to student-centred teaching and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

A PhD in a relevant field.
Previous teaching experience in higher education.
Experience teaching French to non-native speakers in multicultural learning environments.
Familiarity with communicative and task-based language teaching approaches.
Experience with technology-enhanced learning, digital language platforms, or blended teaching.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as student evaluations or peer feedback.
Ability to contribute to wider language, culture, or general education activities.
