GENERAL MERCHANDISE BUYER

Position Summary:
Efficiently manage the top lines, bottom lines, growth of margin and ensuring the availability of the right product mix is the minimum expectation from a candidate.

Role Description:
Key Responsibilities/KRAs/KPIs: • To manage the general merchandise category and achieve set sales and profitability targets.
• Realize organic growth through maintaining right range mix and availability eventually realizing incremental sales through range development and promotions.


Team Organization:
Reporting to: Commercial Manager

Travel Requirement:
Local travel as required for the role

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supermarket retail format in the role of General Merchandise Buyer.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in category management, possess financial acumen, be able to manage range, planograms and promotions, negotiate yearly agreements and best commercial terms with suppliers, manage assortment, pricing, margin and planograms.
The ideal candidate would be fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic would be a plus point. Must have a fair understanding of the retail market in Qatar especially regarding nonfood suppliers.
