Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing geotechnical and soil investigation reports to support the design and execution of EPC projects. This role involves providing technical recommendations on soil improvement, evaluating foundation systems, calculating safe bearing capacities (SBC) and pile capacities, and supporting general earthworks and geotechnical aspects of construction and design, including but not limited to:
- Review the preliminary geotechnical investigation and factual reports provided by the owner, external consultants or contractors or other parties during the bidding stage and propose corresponding technical clarifications. Review geotechnical aspects of tender documents, specifications, and design drawings.
- Analyze subsurface investigation data (borehole logs, laboratory test results, in-situ test data) and prepare geotechnical design parameters.
- Provide technical recommendations for foundation types, ground improvement methods, slope stability, erosion control and earthworks.
- Review the basis of the earthwork quantities provided by the design institute or earthwork subcontractor, as well as the selection of soil improvement methods (such as concrete piles, PHC piles, vibro-compaction, stone columns, dynamic compaction, grouting, soil replacement, etc.)
- Develop geotechnical design basis/ technical specifications, topographic survey technical specification, soil improvement technical specification, piling works & pile Test program technical specifications and contribute to design reports for various project phases (FEED, Detailed Design, EPC).
- Perform calculations for Safe Bearing Capacity (SBC), pile capacity, settlement, and lateral load capacity based on site conditions.
- Coordinate with geotechnical consultants, design teams, and construction teams to ensure geotechnical recommendations are implemented correctly.
- Participate in on-site guidance for geotechnical and topographic surveys, piling works and soil improvement etc.
- Take the lead in completing the control BOQ work, Support value engineering initiatives by proposing cost-effective Earthwork and technically sound ground improvement or foundation solutions.
- Prepare geotechnical memoranda, presentation, design notes, and reports as required by the project.
- Possess sufficient knowledge and experience to carry out geological talent cultivation work
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical analysis methods.
- Well-versed with related International Engineering and Construction Codes and Standards, including ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, Euro codes/BS, UBC, ASCE 7, IBC, SBC, Saudi Aramco, SEC standard, Process Industry Practices (PIP). etc
- Experience with geotechnical site investigations, laboratory testing, and field supervision.
- Ability to quickly assess and make recommendations (rapid problem solving) for any relevant subject matter.
- Experience in managing and prepare the Bill of quantity, providing input for the project schedule & resource requirements and support to the site team.
- Client experience includes major clients like Saudi Aramco, ACWA, Masdar, SEC, SWCC, DEWA, would be preferred.
- Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills with various parties, subcontractors, clients or the third party. Should have coordination skills to organize and arrange engineering work and handle interface issues.
- Excellent skills in all aspects of business management including contract management, monitor management, risk identification, etc.
- Ability to edit and guide the claim report to client and counterclaim report to subcontractors
- Experience with soil improvement techniques (e.g., vibro-compaction, stone columns, dynamic compaction, grouting).
- Understanding of earthwork design, slope stability, retaining structures, and dewatering systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred) from an accredited college or university major in Geotechnical engineering or similar
At least 10 years of relevant geotechnical design and analysis work

- Develop Excel spreadsheet for calculation of SBC, Pile capacities, settlement estimate earthwork and geotechnical related items.
- Competent in using 3D model/ STAAD/SAP2000 apart from Word\Excel\Power Point\Auto Cad etc
- Fluent in English Communication – both written and spoken.
- Shall be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Owner, OE, consultant, third parties, Vendor, Engineering company and internally to sort out and resolve issues and maintain on-time delivery.
