Roles & Responsibilities
Within this segment, Eaton has an opening for a Global Principal Electrical Design Engineer Data Center Segment. The role serves as Eaton s senior technical authority for electrical system design across global data center and mission critical projects. The role provides strategic and hands on engineering leadership from early concept development through detailed design, construction, and project closeout, ensuring technical excellence, safety, compliance, and scalability across global regions.
This role influences Eaton s global electrical design direction, standards, and best practices while supporting complex hyperscale and enterprise data center programs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regional engineering organizations.
What you ll do:
1) Global Electrical Design Authority
- Act as global subject matter expert and technical authority for electrical systems within Eaton s Data Centre portfolio.
- Lead and support the design of complex electrical infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centers from concept through execution.
- Provide expert guidance on MV and LV distribution, transformers, UPS architecture, protection and coordination, grounding, and system resilience strategies.
2) Standards, Governance & Design Quality
- Develop, implement, and govern global electrical design standards, reference architectures, and quality frameworks.
- Ensure all designs align with North American standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and applicable IEC and international standards.
- Perform peer reviews and validation of electrical engineering deliverables across regions to ensure consistency, compliance, and technical rigor.
- Serve as final escalation point for complex or high risk electrical design challenges.
3) Global Project & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary global engineering environment on projects of varying complexity and scale.
- Support bids, proposals, and execution phases by providing advanced electrical engineering expertise.
- Represent Eaton as a senior technical authority in internal and client-facing meetings, workshops, and design reviews.
- Participate in global site visits to assess electrical installations, construction quality, and commissioning readiness.
4) Innovation, Value Engineering & Continuous Improvement
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize cost, performance, reliability, and constructability while maintaining system resilience.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and architectures in response to increasing power densities, AI/HPC loads, and resilience requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of global electrical design approaches and delivery models.
5) Knowledge Sharing & Technical Leadership
- Mentor and support the development of electrical engineering capability across global teams.
- Promote best practices, technical rigor, and consistent electrical design methodologies across regions and business units.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with significant exposure to mission critical facilities and data center environments.
Skills:
- Deep expertise in MV/LV distribution systems, UPS architectures, transformers, grounding, protection schemes, and system coordination.
- Strong working knowledge of North American electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and IEC standards.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior technical authority within global, matrixed organizations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients.
- Proven capability in program management, change management execution, and governance across global or matrixed organizations.
- Proven experience operating at a global or enterprise level, supporting multi region delivery models.
- Lead clarification and resolution of complex technical, commercial, and execution issues.
- Escalate effectively when required, ensuring speed, transparency, and leadership alignment.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
- Strong technical, commercial, and analytical capability.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cross regional collaboration skills.
- Self directed with strong decision making and problem solving ability
- Fluent in English with the ability to engage effectively with diverse global teams.

Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
