Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Curate an exceptional wine list, balancing classic selections with exciting, lesser-known varietals, reflecting the restaurant's concept and guest preferences.
  • Oversee wine inventory management, ensuring optimal storage conditions, minimizing spoilage, and controlling costs through strategic purchasing and efficient stock rotation.
  • Train and mentor the sommelier team and service staff, imparting in-depth wine knowledge, service standards, and sales techniques to elevate the overall guest experience.
  • Manage wine budget, analyze sales data, and identify opportunities to increase wine revenue and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wine suppliers, attending tastings, and negotiating favorable purchasing terms.
  • Conduct wine tastings and educational events for guests and staff, fostering a deeper appreciation for wine culture.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging wine regions, and new winemaking techniques to maintain a cutting-edge wine program.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality, highlighting a proven track record of success.
  • Holds a Certified Sommelier or higher certification from a recognized organization (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET), demonstrating a commitment to wine expertise.
  • Exhibits advanced knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and winemaking techniques, including blind tasting proficiency.
