Job Description

The role of a Health Care Assistant in the Cath Lab is pivotal in supporting nursing staff and cardiologists during cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing patients for cardiac catheterization procedures with all necessary protocols.
  • Support nursing and medical staff during invasive procedures in the Cath Lab environment.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any abnormalities or changes promptly.
  • Maintain and organize the inventory of medical supplies and equipment regularly.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of the Cath Lab before and after procedures.
  • Assist patients with mobility issues and provide comfort and reassurance throughout their stay.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely for medical records and reports.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure rooms for interventions, ensuring all equipment is functional.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team effectively.
  • Help with the setup and calibration of monitoring and procedural equipment as needed.
  • Participate in patient education sessions regarding procedures and post-procedural care.
  • Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Requirements
  • Certification or diploma as a Health Care Assistant from a recognized program.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with cardiac care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient and staff interactions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in using medical equipment and computers for maintaining records.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime.
