Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maneuver heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations to maintain road safety.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal working condition and report any mechanical issues.
  • Load and unload cargo efficiently, ensuring weight distribution is balanced to enhance stability and reduce wear on the vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and cargo transport to comply with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Adhere to delivery schedules and communicate effectively with dispatch to handle delays and reroute as necessary.
  • Utilize GPS and navigation systems to plan routes that minimize travel time while considering road conditions and restrictions.
  • Handle hazardous materials with care, following all safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by interacting positively with clients during pick-up and delivery, addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and enhance driving skills.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle’s interior and exterior, reflecting the company's commitment to professionalism.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with vocational training in heavy-duty vehicle operation being a distinct advantage.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with necessary endorsements for the specific type of vehicle being operated.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving heavy-duty vehicles in a similar industry, showcasing a strong safety record.
  • Familiarity with various types of heavy equipment and their operations, with the ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical documents for effective navigation and load planning.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with additional language proficiency being a plus for diverse working environments.
  • Excellent time management abilities to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to regulatory driving hour limits.
  • Demonstrated physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of loading, unloading, and operating heavy machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address on-the-road issues quickly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • A proactive attitude towards safety, consistently prioritizing personal and public safety while on the road.
