High School Physics Teacher - including Advanced Placement (AP) Physics

Reporting to the High School Principal, the HS Physics Teacher will be joining a dynamic team of top-notch HS professionals who no only enjoy teaching and learning, but enjoy working with students. The 190 international high school students attending the school flourish in small class sizes through their studies in a liberal arts standards-based curriculum. The selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to appropriately utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources for each area taught, be innovative with the use of technology in supporting learning, and communicate with and obtain feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding. Key to your success will be your talent to recognize student diversity and create an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept.

• Accurately demonstrates knowledge of the content area and approved HS curriculum
• Comprehends the principles of student growth, development and learning, and applies them appropriately
• Effectively utilizes student assessment techniques and procedures
• Manages the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior and a safe and healthy environment
• Works productively with colleagues, parents and community members
• Reflects on curriculum and actively pursues continuous improvement
• Demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate
Must Have
• Valid, North American-recognized teaching certificate
• 4-year B.Sc. degree - preferably in Physics
• Minimum of two years experience teaching a North American HS curriculum, specifically teaching upper level Physics
• Demonstrated passion for Science education and Physics
• Desire to work with a wide range of HS students, with diverse ages, abilities, and nationalities
"Nice to Have"
• International teaching experience
• Proven track record of success in preparing students for the AP Physics examinations
• Masters degree in Science (with a concentration in Physics)
• Demonstrated experience contributing to the school community, both within and outside the subject area, including extracurricular activities (clubs, coaching, etc.)
• Experience teaching a wide range of nationalities
Behavioral Competencies Critical for Success
• Proven ability to create learning experiences adapted tot he capabilities of diverse learners
• Recognized ability to build relationships with each and every student and find their unique motivation
• Demonstrated collaboration skills combined with sophisticated personal leadership and a willingness to mentor others
