Roles & Responsibilities

The Project HSE Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that construction projects comply with established quality standards and meet all regulatory Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements. This role involves managing, auditing, and monitoring construction contractors to uphold safety protocols, minimize risks, and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

The HSE Team Lead is responsible for establishing and implementing processes and procedures that promote a culture of safety and ensure the smooth and compliant operation of construction sites. Their duties align with GHD s HSE management system and relevant industry codes, ensuring that all safety protocols are met while driving continuous improvements in health and safety performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce company and legal HSE policies and procedures on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Perform routine site inspections and internal audits.
  • Identify unsafe acts/conditions and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Conduct HSE inductions for new employees and contractors.
  • Organize toolbox talks, safety drills, and refresher training sessions.
  • Oversee the PTW system for high-risk activities (e.g., hot work, confined space entry).
  • Ensure all permits are properly issued, monitored, and closed.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate drills and ensure readiness of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and audits.
  • Submit regular HSE performance reports to management.
  • Monitor HSE compliance of all third-party contractors.
  • Participate in pre-job meetings and ensure alignment on safety expectations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience (as OSH Manager, Lead or above) accompanied by an OSH related Master s Degree or above from an accredited University; or Equivalent.

Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience (as OSH Manager, Lead or above) accompanied by an OSH related Bachelor s Degree from an accredited University; or NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6 equivalent or above).

Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience (as OSH Manager, Lead or above) accompanied by Post-Secondary OSH Qualification (NVQ level 4/5).

In addition to the above qualifications, the proposed personnel shall have successfully completed the Abu Dhabi Occupational Health and Safety (ADOSH-SF) Practitioners Course and hold Grade A registration (or relevant OSH practitioner approval, as applicable) along with ISO-45001 Lead Auditor qualification, etc. The proposed candidate shall have minimum 15 years of vivid experience in Health and Safety domain.
