Roles & Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Safety Manager will oversee all aspects of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) on the assigned project(s). The role ensures compliance with ALDAR OSH competency requirements, local and international regulations, and ISO standards. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring robust safety programs to safeguard workers, contractors, and stakeholders while promoting a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific HSE plans, procedures, and risk management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ALDAR Projects OSH Competency Guidelines and all legal OSH requirements in the UAE.
  • Lead safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Oversee safety performance monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Liaise with ALDAR OSH Team, Consultants, and Contractors to ensure alignment and competency of all OSH staff.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to project safety teams and ensure competence in line with ADOSH-SF standards.
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all levels of the organization and contractors.
  • Report regularly to management on HSE performance, compliance, and risks.

Qualifications & Competency Requirements

  • Academic/Professional Qualification:
    Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent with 5+ years relevant experience, OR
    Bachelor’s Degree in OSH or NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6 or above) with 6+ years relevant experience, OR

  • Mandatory Certifications:
    Successfully completed Abu Dhabi Occupational Health and Safety (ADOSH-SF) Practitioners Course (Grade A registration or equivalent).
    ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience:
    Minimum 15 years of progressive Health & Safety experience, preferably within UAE/GCC mega projects.
    Proven leadership experience in managing large HSE teams on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Other Requirements:
    Strong knowledge of UAE legal OSH frameworks.
    Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
    Ability to lead safety culture transformation initiatives.
