Assures that required management systems are in place to protect the health and safety of workers and to regularly monitor and report EHS performance.
Monitor EHSMS implementation as specified in EHS Policy, EHS Manual, System Procedures, Code of Practices (CoP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensure its compliance and give feed back to HSE Manager.
Act in an advisory role to line and senior management on the EHS matters.
Ensure the compliance of EHS Legal and other requirements related to the area of responsibility.
Participate in work place inspection.
Arrange and provide EHS training to employees and contractors.
Maintaining the records related to the EHSMS and report to the management.
Assist the HSE manager in all EHS related activities and reporting.
Identifies operation trends, provides analysis of root cause and implements corrective actions to provide continuous improvement to the operation

English is essential: excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
Must be flexible: willing to work long hours, weekends and be on call (periodically);
Arabic is an advantage;
Highly proactive and self-motivated

A pro-active and flexible approach to the presented challenges is required;
b. Technical skills:
Computer literate: a high degree of business computing applications such as databases, word processors and spreadsheets, etc.;
Deep knowledge and understanding of the HSE Systems used in an Industrial Power Plant. Understanding of UAE HSE Law, HSE Policies and management procedures;
Thorough knowledge of international standards for management of Health, Safety, Environment and Risk such as OSHA (USA), NFPA, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18000.
Good knowledge of Government legislation, international regulations and HSE best practice
Strong knowledge of applicable country safety & health regulations
Moderate to advanced computer skills
Working knowledge of Environmental Regulations as they pertain to the operations and maintenance of an energy generating facility;
Thorough understanding of Quality Assurance Programs such as SPC and ISO, as well as Safety Programs as they relate to the operation and power generation facilities;
Business knowledge: good working knowledge of the Power Plant operating environment, including the processes, the equipment and potential risks.

Must be able to demonstrate management ability with highly developed interpersonal skills

Bachelor s degree in Health, Safety or Environmental Engineering or Chemistry
