Role Objective
The LC Officer Documentary Overdraft (DOD) is responsible for handling the lodgment / settlement of Documentary Overdraft (DOD) in accordance with bank / regulatory and UCP guidelines for documentary credit. He is also responsible for sending reminders to customers for outstanding documents on weekly basis and ensure that all procedures are carried-out in compliance to Trade Finance Policies & Procedures Manual. He acts as Custodian of all DOD original documents. The job holder will act as the custodian of all records to comply with audit / procedural standards.
Major Roles & Responsibilities
• Perform all operational activities as assigned by the Senior LC Officer in compliance with local regulations, policies and latest UCP guidelines.
• Adhere to / follow audit, compliance and procedural control measures set by the management with respect to AML initiatives.
• Handle lodging and settlement of Documentary Overdraft (DOD), and process DOD intimations & acknowledgments, as assigned.
• Generate transaction application with a view to ascertain the financial position of the customer.
• Prepare remittance messages against LC DOD settlements.
• Prepare reminders on weekly basis against outstanding transactions.
• Promptly respond to and / or escalate the queries raised by Customers/ employees to the technical support team / reporting officer, as applicable.
• Liaise with the Administrative / Central Archives representative for transfer of records for archiving to the Archives and Records center, and further retrieval on account for reference, or litigation and / or other reasons, as directed by the reporting officers.
• Receive shipping guarantee applications from customers and check for correctness of details including letter of credit number, customer s signature, and supporting documents.
Educational Qualifications
• University graduate with a degree in Business or Banking or Finance or any other related discipline.
• Master s degree in Management any other related discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience & Skills
• 3-5 years experience in a similar position.
• Experience in trade finance operations / processing in banking industry.
• Working knowledge of Trade finance operations, products and services.
• Knowledge of LC processing within Qatar and worldwide.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite .
• Proficiency in data entry.
• Proficiency in English language. Proficiency in Arabic language will be an advantage.
