Job Description

An Infection Control Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining safe and healthy environments within healthcare facilities, protecting both patients and staff from potential infectious outbreaks. This critical role involves developing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive infection control practices and policies to prevent healthcare-associated infections. The Infection Control Manager must stay updated with the latest trends and research in infection prevention and control, ensuring that their facility complies with federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, they will act as a resource for healthcare personnel, offering guidance and training on the best practices for infection prevention and control. This position requires excellent communication and leadership skills, as they collaborate with various departments to identify infection risks and implement effective strategies to mitigate them.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement organization-wide infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor adherence to infection prevention protocols.
  • Analyze infection prevention data and trends to identify potential outbreak risks.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop action plans for addressing infection-related issues.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on all infection prevention matters for staff and management.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant infection control regulations and guidelines.
  • Educate healthcare staff about best practices in infection prevention and control regularly.
  • Lead investigations of infection outbreaks and recommend containment strategies.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and training sessions for the infection control committee.
  • Develop emergency preparedness plans related to infectious disease outbreaks.
  • Maintain accurate records of infection control activities and outcomes.
  • Interface with public health officials regarding infection control practices and outbreaks.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is highly desirable for this position.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in current infection control practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities and experience leading teams.
  • Ability to educate and train healthcare staff on effective infection control protocols.
