We are looking for a part time instrumental teacher, who will be primarily responsible for managing and delivering instrumental lessons. The ideal candidate will be experienced in teaching across the year groups and have excellent behaviour management skills. DBGS welcomes applicants that are qualified and have teaching experience including strings (violin, viola and double bass), piano, flute and drums. The position is being advertised as part time.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
• Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people ( child protection )
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations
• Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counsellors and administrators to resolve students behavioural and academic problems
• Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks
• Have a flexible and positive can do attitude
• Be a conscientious and resilient practitioner, able to work well in a variety of settings
• Demonstrate creativity and innovation
• Deliver an active, hands-on and student-centred programme to promote learning
• Maintain a safe learning environment for pupils at all times
• Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class through individualised learning and assessment
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Headteacher or Head of Department

Desired Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:
• A minimum of a University degree in the subject area of employment (Master s degree preferred)
• Current teacher certification in the required subject area. Certification should be from a recognised and nationally recognised institution
• Police clearance to demonstrate suitability of applicant to work with children and in a school environment
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience of teaching music within an accredited school system (preferred)
• Proficient in playing one or more instruments as listed above
• Experience with G Suite/Microsoft Office
• Ability to demonstrate a track record of continued professional development
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Highly developed organisational skills
• Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues
• Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to lead an after-school activity
