Founded in the year 2005, Qatar Museums (QM) is the leading body that governs and manages the museums in Qatar. Headquartered in Doha, Qatar, the authority was established by his majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani with the aim to combine the resources of all museums in Qatar. QM acts as th
e all-inclusive organization for museum development and has also established an excellent system for collecting, protecting, preserving and interpreting historic sites, monuments, and artifacts. The authority has a number of museums and art galleries operating under it, including the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Fire Station Artist in Residence, National Museum of Qatar, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and Orientalist Museum.
As an organization, QM’s aim is to take museums beyond the covered spaces and nurture emerging talent as well as provide them with a platform to reach the global stage.
