The Assistant Project Director will lead the PMC staff on a prestigious corporate building project ensuring the consistent delivery throughout construction phases of the project reporting to the Project Director This is achieved by controlling overall coordination of progress, project quality, safety and cost objectives, as well as to ensure all project documentation are properly controlled as per the Client/Contract requirement. Providing support to the site Construction teams to mitigate risk that might affect project delivery. The Team will consist of Construction supervisors, multi-discipline Engineers and site Inspection workers.

Job Duties:

• Communicate with the Project Director and Site Management team continuously regarding the project progress on site.
• Coordinating with the engineering team and original designers to address any design deficiencies promptly avoiding any cost impact and ensure design deliverables are submitted by design consultant in a timely manner with minimum impact on project progress milestones.
• Providing support and Guidance to the Construction Supervision Management team by establishing and maintaining specific project procedures.
• Applying a tactical influence, persuasion and pressure to Contractor to ensure the projects milestones related to key deliverables are met.
• Reviewing weekly and monthly reports presented by the contractor and presenting to the Project Director on comments of non-compliance, areas of concern and corrective actions.
• Advising the management of any foreseen slippage of progress and propose corrective actions.
• Remotely monitor (through specialized cameras) project site for global monitoring of site activities in respect of quality, safety and progress and advise project director of findings, area of concern and corrective action.
• Working with respective Team leaders to identify and manage program level interdependencies and impacts; including major utilities, infrastructure and site logistics.
• Attending executive meetings, weekly progress meetings and quality, safety meetings and make sure that weekly technical meetings are attended by all relevant disciplines.
• Reviewing and monitoring the contractor’s proposed construction equipment and manpower histogram and advise the Project Director of any shortage.
• Ensuring Contractor compliance with contractual obligations.
• Leading the PMC team to correctly evaluate all RFI’s as submitted by the contractor addressing construction methodology, method statements, project quality plan, safety plan, schedules and compliance with project objectives.
• Leading PMC in reviewing and implementing pre-commissioning and commissioning plans.
• Preparing and submitting the PMC closeout report for the project.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management or a related field. In addition, membership of a recognized professional institution is preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of related senior construction supervision / management experience on Building and Construction projects with a broad general engineering background including significant experience in prestigious and architecturally challenging building projects.
• Able to work under pressure, and motivate a multi lingual /cultural team to meet critical time deadlines
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal English
• Expert knowledge of design, procurement and Construction cycle including sequencing, means and methods
