Plan, coordinate, manage and supervise the accounting function(s) to ensure they are carried out in compliance within the Organization's financial policies and procedures and in adherence to IAS/ IFRS. The focus of the position is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, reconciliation of accounts, preparation of the trial balance and delivering efficient service to internal customers, while at the same time assuring that the business adheres to risk management and company assets and financial resources are safeguarded and efficiently utilized.
• Leads the implementation of financial policies, procedures and controls for accounting and financial transactions for company and ensures the application of requisite accounting standards and practices;
• Maintaining timely and accurate general ledger (posting entries, recording accruals, etc.);
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and documents business transactions;
• Assist in setting up the accounting function of newly set-up project/ subsidiary/ venture;
• Determine the proper accounting treatment of complex and / or unusual transactions, seeking guidance of the Line Manager, where necessary. Ensure there is adequate documentation and support of transactions and reports to back-up the accounting treatment;
• Supervise the monthly and annual closing of books of account; including on time submission of monthly/ quarterly/ annual reports to the necessary entities;
• Analyze transactional processes and identify areas where additional accuracies and efficiencies can be achieved;
• Leads and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities of company
• Recommend modification to standard work procedures in the section, where necessary in order to enhance the effectiveness and quality of work;
• Maintain contact and deal with key external parties, external auditors and banks on issues relevant to the working of the finance function;
• Supervise and manage monthly payroll processing, bank ledger and monthly bank reconciliations, fixed assets register, accounts receivable and payable and the general ledger , in order to maintain current and accurate accounts.
