Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is urgently looking for a “Corporate EHS Auditor” willing to work under the following conditions:

Terms & Condition:

Work Location: Malaysia
Contract Duration: Direct Hire, Permanent
Work Schedule: 5 days/Week, 9 hours/day
Transportation: To be managed by candidate

Position Purpose & Summary:

EHS Audit is committed to accelerating company’s journey to Zero.

The Corporate EHS Auditor is a member of the global EHS audit team and is responsible for applying full knowledge of Environment, Health and Safety practices and standards in performing complex audit activities.

Audits will be primarily within the assigned geography but may occasionally be performed globally as well.

Activities include assessing & communicating risk, performing audit processes, and managing/planning audit projects.

Candidates come to the EHS audit team on a rotational basis as a development experience with moderate to advanced level of experience in EHS and knowledge within or outside the company.

This preferred location for these positions is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and it is expected that the majority of audit fieldwork assignments will be within the Asia-Pacific region.

Principal Accountabilities:

60% Execute Audit Processes

• Apply full knowledge of EHS practices and standards (including current and short-term regulatory requirements).
• Reviews site-level Environment, Health & Safety, and Process Safety processes across various businesses regionally to identify potential risks. Activities include:
• ctivities include review of relevant documentation (programs, permits, training records, applicable regulatory requirements, etc.) to develop understanding of defined business processes including who performs processes and the expected relevant controls.
• Leveraging internal and external SMEs to identify common risks associated with the process being audited (E.g. common risks associated with entering confined spaces).
• Validates that processes are adequate to control the associated risks and are being performing consistently as intended. Activities include:
o Reviewing documentation
o Performing plant inspections
o Interviewing plant personnel
o Assessing identified risk
o Providing guidance/influence to site leadership on mitigating identified risks
• Documents audit project findings and creates written reports requiring a deep understanding of the process being audited and EHS Audit standards in order to communicate identified risk results to business and site management and Corporate EHS Audit Leadership.
30% Planning & Managing Audits
• Provides operational leadership to moderately complex EHS audit, inspection and risk assessment processes with limited supervision.
• Plans audit projects by assessing overall risk at the initial stages of the audit, setting priorities and deadlines and discussing the audit scope with the regional audit director. Makes proposals on audit scheduling and resource selection.
• Builds rapport and acts as a liaison between Corporate EHS Audit and Businesses/Site to communicate to the respective management of relevant audit events and activities. Builds effective working relationships with senior-level employees in order to develop and sustain a strong EHS culture.
• Reviews and analyzes audit results requiring some interpretation, to confirm that standards are met. Reviews audit related documentation/reports to verify documentation is written in a clear and concise manner, according to Corporate EHS Audit and standards prior to submitting for review.
• Tracks and reviews project related costs and reports information to Audit Leadership Team for review.
10% People Leadership
• May work with new teammates to set appropriate training goals and help ensure each team’s members have the appropriate skills to complete the audit efficiently, within scope, and meeting Corporate EHS Audit standards.
• Provides coaching and training to teammates on established corporate EHS audit practices/procedures and solicits team members feedback for improvement.
• May acts as a mentor and provides developmental feedback to department teammates and EHS talent in the businesses.
Other relevant information to the position
The Corporate EHS Auditor is a member of the global audit organization within Company’s corporate EHS organization. This group consist of a global director, regional leaders, and an audit specialist.

Modeled after the Corporate Audit organizational structure and people strategy in Finance, the Corporate EHS Auditor roles are developmental in nature by providing exposure to new businesses and locations, experience of working within a global virtual team, develop effective risk identification and assessment skills, opportunity to build relationships with senior EHS leaders and work on developing leadership capabilities by influencing without authority.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Engineering, Industrial Sciences or related technical field, OR minimum 5 years successful EHS field experience in an industrial or production setting.
•Demonstrated knowledge of EHS principles, standards and regulations.
•Previous audit experience.
•Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple concurrent and competing projects at the same time.
•Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization, including site level and senior Enterprise/Group leadership.
•Ability to travel up to 75% within assigned region.
•Proficient in English.
•Written and spoken proficiency in at least one of the following: Mandarin, Malay, Indonesia/Bahasa.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Knowledge of company’s environment, health and safety Basic Requirements and guidelines.
•Knowledge of company’s businesses, systems/applications and strategic objectives.
•Demonstrated ability to quickly conceptualize and understand strategy, business model and supporting processes.
•Advanced degree in EHS, industrial sciences, engineering or related.
•Professional certifications related to EHS (e.g. OSHAS 18001 (ISO 45001), ISO 14001, CSP, CIH, ASP, etc.)
•Experience working with regulators in assigned region.
