Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
1- Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic oxygen administration apparatus, aerosol medication while following specified parameters of treatment. And Monitoring equipment and patient responses to therapy.
2- Performs simple bedside Spirometry, chest physiotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, patient education, demonstration of inhaler techniques.
3- Assisting physicians in bedside tracheostomy and intubation.
4- Provide emergency care, including mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation (CPAP and Bipap) and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
5- Responsible for ventilator management and assistance in the adult, pediatric or Neonatal intensive care units under direct supervision of a Neonatologist, Pulmonologist.
6- Assist’s Physician during Bronchoscopy procedure, -Prepare required supplies and Patient preparation, assist in the following procedures and handle samples for the following procedures - Trans bronchial lung biopsy, Trans bronchial needle aspiration and BAL. Has experience in dealing with complications of the above procedures. Can prepare samples for the lab. Bronchoscope routine care and preparation
7- Performing and Analyzing arterial blood gases
8- Work as part of a team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to manage patient care.
9- Monitor patient’s physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases and chemistry
changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
10- Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary.
11- You will also be responsible in Liaison with the Biomedical dept and stores for, Maintaining the equipment in a functional state, calibration of equipment, making sure required supplies such as mouth piece, filters and other required supplies are available.
