Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all commercial kitchen equipment on-site. Ensures that all kitchen systems and appliances operate efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous support to site operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, steamers, grills, fryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and food preparation appliances.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, gas, and water supply issues related to kitchen equipment.
  • Install new kitchen equipment, ensuring proper utility connections and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors or manufacturers for major repairs or warranty-related servicing.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify any potential failures or hazards.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records, service logs, and inventory for kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of spare parts and consumable lists for kitchen equipment.
  • Support other maintenance teams in general tasks as required, including basic plumbing, electrical, or mechanical duties.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls related to kitchen operations and equipment failure.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules as per OEM recommendations and company standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in equipment storage and work areas.
  • Ensure all tools and testing equipment are used safely and maintained in good working condition.
  • Comply with all applicable health, safety, and sanitation codes during maintenance and repair work.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary for improved performance or safety.
  • Perform routine calibration of thermostats, temperature sensors, and control panels.

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and avoid endangering others through unsafe actions.
  • Cooperate with all company initiatives aimed at improving workplace health and safety.
  • Follow instructions and procedures provided for your safety and the safety of others.
  • Do not misuse or tamper with safety equipment or safety procedures.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Practical knowledge of gas, electrical, and steam systems related to kitchen appliances.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene.
  • Competence in the use of testing and diagnostic tools relevant to kitchen equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a technical training program in Kitchen Equipment technician (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
  • Technical training or certification in kitchen or catering equipment maintenance (preferred).
  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in commercial kitchen equipment servicing.
  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations applicable to kitchen environments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies and after-hours work when required.
  • Physical fitness to carry out manual maintenance tasks in a kitchen environment.

SCOPE AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

  • Responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of all kitchen equipment on-site.
  • Collaborates with site teams and contractors for complex repairs or installations.
  • Must escalate critical failures or safety issues to the Site Engineer immediately.
  • Authorized to request consumables and spare parts within approved budgets, with supervisor oversight for larger expenses.
