Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers, ensuring optimal functionality and minimal downtime for catering operations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on kitchen appliances, meticulously inspecting and servicing equipment to extend its lifespan and prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues within the kitchen, expertly resolving problems to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Install new kitchen equipment, adhering to safety regulations and manufacturer specifications to guarantee proper operation.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and equipment inventory, ensuring accurate documentation for all service activities.
  • Collaborate with catering staff to understand equipment needs and provide technical support, fostering a strong working relationship.
  • Source and order replacement parts and supplies, managing inventory to ensure timely availability for repairs and maintenance.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure food safety.
  • Provide training to kitchen staff on basic equipment operation and maintenance, empowering them to address minor issues.
  • Stay updated on the latest kitchen equipment technology and repair techniques, continuously improving skills and knowledge.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Holds relevant certifications in appliance repair, electrical systems, or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) is preferred.
  • Exhibits a strong understanding of commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, ranges, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
  • Demonstrates 3+ years of experience in kitchen equipment repair and maintenance within the catering or hospitality industry.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Displays excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with kitchen staff and management.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and prioritizing tasks.
  • Exhibits physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various conditions (hot/cold).
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
