Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of electrical substation projects (400kV / 220kV / 132kV / 33kV / 11kV)
  • Prepare and review SLDs, layouts (GA, OEL), BOQs, and technical specifications
  • Perform and oversee ETAP studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, relay settings)
  • Design DC systems, earthing systems, lightning protection, and cable sizing/schedules
  • Ensure compliance with UAE authorities (TRANSCO, DEWA, FEWA, ADDC/AADC, ADNOC) and IEC/IEEE standards
  • Review tender documents, support pre-tender clarifications, and evaluate vendor offers
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Electrical, Civil, MEP) and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and authority submission documents
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and post-award technical discussions

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master s is a plus)

  • 10 15 years of experience in electrical design, with strong UAE substation experience
  • Proven experience in high-voltage substation design (400kV to 11kV)
  • Strong knowledge of UAE authority standards (TRANSCO, DEWA, FEWA, ADDC/AADC, ADNOC)
  • Proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD, and MS Office (CYMGRD, DIALUX, PLS-CADD is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards
  • Experience in tendering, design coordination, and authority approvals
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage design teams and ensure high-quality technical delivery
