Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
To ensure that ADT operates within the law and meets current regulatory standards, create and uphold compliance procedures and policies which they evaluate against best practice and regulatory standards, which are continually changing. And to support with other legal aspects.
Actively follow and promote the ADT Safety and Security policies and ensure that fellow employees and visitors are doing the same. These policies are to be always followed within the port environment so as to ensure a safe and secure workplace for all.
Review of all relevant statutory laws and regulations applicable to the Company and ensure compliance with these.
Ensure that business activities are conducted in conformity with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Ensure that all regulatory permissions remain current and appropriate for business needs.
Continual compliance risk assessment of company practices together with the development of internal policies and procedures, compliance training and protocols.
Serve as liaison for all regulatory bodies as well as maintaining relationships with relevant legal bodies and trade associations.
Keep abreast of regulatory developments and industry initiatives and advise management accordingly.
Liaise with third parties, together with the company’s management, that wish to understand the company’s control environment, compliance policies and procedures.
Provide reporting with respect to regulatory requirements and developments & Develop compliance checklists and prepare compliance reports, as and when due
Inform the Internal Audit unit of any findings as regards non-compliance that may require investigation
Day to day legal activities and any other duties as required by the Unit head.
Liaise with auditors, external lawyers, bankers and any other external parties when its required
Preparation of compliance documentation with relevant constitutive documents for statutory, legal, regulatory purposes.
Support unit head on maintenance and review of Legal Agreements and contracts
Responsible for providing legal support in controlling customer complaints to mitigate the risk of litigation.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree, with LLM being an advantage, preferably in the port sector or in transportation
Minimum of 10 years work experience on compliance role, Familiarization with local civil, transportation, commercial, real estate, highly knowledgeable of UAE labour laws & practices
Highly conversant with reviewing framework agreements, sanctions screening, data protection
Ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written methods, in Arabic and English
Must be able to evaluate solutions for both long and short-term benefit
Exhibits sound judgment. Measures results and takes corrective action when needed
Exhibit effective negotiation skill
