Light Construction Crew Supervisor
Responsibilities: Supervisor, LCC: This is a supervisory position will be based at one of four PAE sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The Light Construction Crew Supervisor will perform and supervise work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of carpentry work for buildings, equipment and grounds to include schedules, inventory, estimates, manpower and material requirements.
This Supervisor position assumes complete responsibility for installation and repair of all carpentry projects and related O&M. The LCC Supervisor will also be the supervisor of the Light Construction Crew (LCC) and will coordinate multiple projects. The candidate will manage and lead the construction projects including technical support, logistical support, fiscal responsibility, safety and client satisfaction.
This LCC Supervisor position reports to the Assistant O&M Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES: LCC Supervisor role - The LCC Supervisor provides daily work assignments and supervises a multi-national workforce of Carpenters. Performs carpentry services such as: - Designs, constructs, remodels, retrofits and repairs interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete and brick - Designs, constructs, retrofits, and repairs cabinets, tables, shelves, benches, partitions, flooring, door and window frames, and other types of furniture. May be required to install Steel-case modular furniture. - Responsible and implementing (WO) Work Order tracking methods and preventative maintenance schedules - Manages, coordinates and implements morning meeting safety tool box topics with carpenter staff before tasks are executed Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections. - Assists in developing the Statement of Work (SOW) when requested - Maintains effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with customers, other departments, managers, and supports other organizations. - Performs other administrative tasks including material ordering, stock inventories, work scheduling - Collects, analyzes and summarizes data for report preparation and submits written reports. - Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts. - Must be able to take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical codes. - Must be able to evaluate operational effectiveness and develop/maintain effective operational control mechanisms. - Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: - The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five to seven years carpentry experience in operations and maintenance services, with a minimum of three years of experience in an Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) environment - The ideal candidate will also have a minimum of five years general carpentry experience in operations and maintenance services, with a minimum of three years operations and maintenance (O&M) experience in an overseas setting - The ideal candidate will also have five or more years of demonstrable project management experience - Knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and accepted trade practices. - Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, other building trades, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. - Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred - Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. - Training and experience with rough carpentry finish carpentry, cabinet making, furniture repair and furniture construction is highly desired - The LCC Supervisor should have at least a working knowledge of all trade skills: carpentry, electricity, plumbing, drywall, painting, concrete and roofing - Must have good organizational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
REQUIRED:
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
• Completion of an Apprentice program with a Journeyman Certificate, or have an Electrical AA/AS degree and AA/AS degree for any one of the principle trades (Carpenter, Plumbing, HVAC) from a two year college is strongly preferred. Equivalent field experience will be considered from a two year college and/or equivalent field experience is strongly preferred
• Must have a Secret or Top Secret Clearance and maintain eligibility at the required security level for the duration of the contract - Language Skills: Strong professional English communication skills, both oral and written
• US Citizenship is required for this position - Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination
• DESIRED: - Relevant overseas supervisory Carpentry experience or supervisory experience in any one of the principle trades (Carpenter, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC) - Experience working with PAE - Experience working with Scope of Work, sub-contractors, budgets, estimating, working drawings and as built
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in operating and supporting supervisory Carpentry/LCC functions at an overseas facility - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer services - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules - Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel - Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team - Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change - Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information
