Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Light Current Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all low-voltage (light current) systems within the property. This includes systems such as CCTV, access control, fire alarm, public address, structured cabling, TV systems, and other ELV (Extra Low Voltage) infrastructure. The role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, guest safety, and seamless technology integration across all hotel and facility systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and maintain all low-voltage systems including CCTV, fire alarm, access control, public address, IPTV, and structured cabling.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in ELV systems efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for maintenance and upgrades when necessary.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and system testing to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Ensure all installations and repairs comply with relevant codes, safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, system configurations, and maintenance logs.
- Provide technical support during events, VIP setups, or special functions as required.
- Assist in the commissioning of new systems or upgrades during renovations or property enhancements.
- Collaborate with IT, security, and engineering departments to ensure system integration and performance.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and new technologies in ELV and smart building systems.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Specialized training or certification in ELV systems (e.g., CCTV, fire alarm, access control) is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with light current/ELV systems, preferably in hospitality, commercial, or real estate environments.
- Hands-on experience with installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low-voltage systems.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of ELV systems including security, communication, and automation technologies.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, multimeters, cable testers, and related equipment.
- Familiarity with BMS, networking basics, and structured cabling standards is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical precision.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Desired Candidate Profile
