Maintenance Engineer HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahy

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems. This role ensures that the property maintains the highest standards of functionality, safety, and aesthetics. The Maintenance Engineer proactively manages preventative maintenance, responds to technical issues, oversees repairs, and collaborates with internal staff and external contractors to preserve integrity and luxury standards.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Preventative Maintenance

• Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all palace systems and equipment.

• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, irrigation systems, fountains, lighting, and structural components.

• Ensure all systems operate at optimal performance to prevent unexpected failures or disruptions.

2. Repairs and Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly and effectively.

• Repair or replace defective components to restore full functionality.

• Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized maintenance, repairs, or system upgrades.

3. Facility Upkeep

• Maintain infrastructure including lighting systems, security systems, structural elements, irrigation systems, and water features.

• Oversee minor construction, renovation, and improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and aesthetic quality.

• Ensure the palace grounds and technical installations remain in excellent condition.

4. Energy Management

• Monitor energy consumption and system efficiency.

• Recommend and implement energy-saving initiatives without compromising comfort, luxury, or operational standards.

• Support sustainability and cost-efficiency objectives.

5. Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.

• Conduct regular safety inspections and immediately address potential hazards.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of inspections, certifications, and permits.

6. Inventory and Tools Management

• Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance equipment.

• Source and procure materials within approved budgets.

• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and safely stored.

7. Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with the Palace Administrator, household staff, and contractors to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize disruption.

• Provide management with regular updates and recommendations for system improvements.

• Train staff on basic equipment operation and maintenance procedures where required.
