The Job Summary
The principal focus is to manage the activities of the maintenance team using both staff and external vendors to deliver operational excellence.
The main focus of the position; Maintenance Manager is to provide management, leadership and oversight for the maintenance of all Plant and Equipment within the Fish Processing Department. These include internal operational, maintenance and quality assurance measures including Standard Operating Procedures and externally certified systems.
The primary focus of the role is to ensure that all Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Refrigeration and other technical equipment relating are operated and maintained to deliver reliable performance to enable NAQUA s aquaculture business.
Maintenance of the building and equipment must be undertaken to both optimize the equipment and to ensure that all external accreditations are maintained within a framework of food safety systems and the role is to assure the quality of NAQUA s final product.
Repairs and Fabrication of stainless steel and Aluminium support equipment will need to be done in timely and professional manner and to highest standards to maximize Harvest performance, quality and productivity.
The primary goal of this role is have all equipment operating at its Full Intended Capacity and Capability .
The role provides critical services to the Processing Dept. through preventive maintenance schedules of all Plant and equipment, to ensure maximum up time of all equipment. The role will have to coordinate with other technical specialists within the Engineering and Technical Department, such as Refrigeration, Fabrication and Electrical to ensure ongoing operational viability. It is an integral requirement of the role that the Maintenance Manager has a substantial understanding of the interactions between maintenance and improved operational performance.
The role must ensure that the His Department acts as a business partner and enabler, driving a culture of continuous improvement in business processes while communicating and interacting effectively across the organization.
The role must act as mentor to his staff, guiding them in proper working practices and techniques in carrying out their duty, this is a hands on role and the Maintenance Manager would be expected to spend at least 50% on the workshop floor, and activity participate in Repair and Maintenance work.
Identification of operational engineering and mechanical constraints and providing strategies to optimize equipment while managing constraints.
Provision of advice, training and recommendations to production staff on the correct and most efficient use of equipment.
To develop and manage a group technicians & ensure systematic allotment of their respective job orders & completion of the same.
Ensure all technicians on your staff are multi skilled and can and will operate in both Field and workshop roles.
Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards, and repairs / adjustments are done completely, addressing the root cause of the failure.
Manage spare parts to minimize inventory and reduce down time, maintaining spare parts min/max levels.
Develop and Implement Preventive Maintenance programs for all equipment to ensure maximum Up-time.
Effectively coordinate with Technical Specialists within the Engineering & Technology Department to ensure full technical coverage of all equipment within the Department.
Communicate with both internal and external solution providers and develop healthy respectful working relationships with them.
Ensure relevant procedures to maintain and achieve product safety, legality and quality aspects.
You must have a Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering with relevant experience of 10 years, preferably with an international food processing company as well as excellent leadership, team building, communication, IT, negotiation and report writing skills.
