Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead and manage the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle of all Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) systems in compliance with GCAA regulations and ICAO SARPs, ensuring continuous service availability to support safe and efficient Air Traffic Services (ATS).
Oversee CNS control room operations, ensuring 24/7 system monitoring, fault detection, and timely corrective actions to maintain operational continuity of critical CNS infrastructure.
Ensure execution of routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance programs in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and regulatory requirements.
Lead advanced troubleshooting, fault isolation, and root cause analysis of CNS systems (including VHF/UHF, ILS, DVOR/DME, radar, ADS-B, and associated networks), ensuring implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
Ensure all CNS facilities are complied with GCAA regulations and operational safety standards.
Ensure full compliance with General Civil Aviation Authority regulations, ICAO Annexes and applicable airport operational requirements.
Support regulatory audits, inspections, and certification processes, ensuring CNS systems meet all safety, quality, and performance obligations.
Maintain system documentation, logs, and records in line with regulatory and audit requirements.
Implement and monitor Safety Management System (SMS) practices, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and ensuring mitigation measures are effectively applied.
Monitor CNS system performance against KPIs and SLAs, ensuring high levels of system availability, reliability, and serviceability.
Develop and enforce CNS SOPs, maintenance procedures, and operational guidelines in line with GCAA regulations and airport policies.
Ensure governance, risk, and compliance frameworks are effectively implemented within the CNS function.
Prepare timely CNS performance reports, downtime logs, risk registers, and project updates for management review.
Comply with HSEEQ standards and ensure safe work practices in all CNS activities
Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and identify areas for service enhancement.
Support senior management and board-level reporting with accurate insights and strategic recommendations related to CNS operations
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related Engineering discipline.
OEM or equivalent certifications in relevant CNS systems (e.g., radar systems, navigation aids, communication systems)
Minimum Experience:
8+ years of experience in Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) systems operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting (preferably within an airport or Air Navigation Service Provider environment).
Proven experience working with air navigation systems such as communication (VHF/UHF/VoIP), navigation aids (ILS, VOR/DME), and surveillance systems (Radar, ADS-B, MLAT).
Job-specific Skills:
Strong knowledge of CNS systems including voice communication systems, navigation aids, surveillance systems, and associated network infrastructure.
Solid understanding of CNS system architectures, including RF systems, IP-based communication networks, and interfacing with Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems.
Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies for CNS systems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting, fault isolation, and root cause analysis for complex CNS and electronic systems.
Familiarity with system monitoring tools, control room operations, and real-time system performance management.
Knowledge of testing, calibration, and certification requirements for CNS equipment.
Strong understanding of aviation regulatory frameworks, including requirements from the General Civil Aviation Authority and International Civil Aviation Organization (especially ICAO Annex 10).
Demonstrated experience in CNS equipment certification processes, including commissioning, calibration, FAT/SAT, and flight inspection requirements, with the ability to maintain proper documentation as proof of compliance.
