Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of CAD designers, draftsmen, and the configuration management officer.
  • Mentor and train staff in CAD best practices, drafting standards, and GD&T application.
  • Manage workload allocation and monitor performance to ensure on-time delivery of drawing office outputs.

Drawing Office Operations

  • Oversee the preparation, checking, and approval of 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, engineering requirements, and international standards (ASME Y14.5, ISO 1101, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain drawing and document control procedures.

Technical Expertise

  • Provide expert guidance in GD&T for all designs and drawings.
  • Ensure accuracy and clarity of dimensional tolerances and design intent communication.
  • Drive continuous improvement in drawing standards and CAD practices.

Configuration Management

  • Oversee the configuration management process, ensuring full traceability of revisions, part numbers, and design baselines.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality to maintain configuration integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with design engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure effective communication and integration of design changes.
  • Support design reviews, audits, and customer deliverables as required.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a drawing office environment, with progressive responsibility.
  • Proven track record of managing or leading CAD/drafting teams.
  • Strong expertise in GD&T, with practical experience applying ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101 standards.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawing standards, tolerances, and manufacturing practices.
  • Experience in configuration management systems and document control processes.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desired Attributes

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or other high-precision engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
