Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee vessel maintenance and repair, ensuring compliance with class, flag state, and company regulations.
- Manage dry-docking projects, coordinating with shipyards, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits, identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
- Manage the technical budget, controlling costs and ensuring efficient allocation of resources for vessel operations and maintenance.
- Investigate marine incidents, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Provide technical support and guidance to onboard crew, resolving operational issues and promoting best practices.
- Ensure that vessels are operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, complying with all relevant regulations.
- Monitor vessel performance, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational efficiency.
- Manage and coordinate the procurement of spare parts and stores, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Possesses a valid Class 1 / 11 Marine Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC).
- Exhibits extensive experience in managing various types of vessels, including tankers, bulk carriers, or container ships.
- Has a strong understanding of shipboard systems, including propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary machinery.
- Displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams.
- Possesses strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to handle complex technical issues.
- Demonstrates a proactive and results-oriented approach, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Is fluent in English, both written and spoken, with additional language skills being an advantage.
