Material Engineer - Operations and Maintenance

What You'll Be Doing:

• Conduct asphalt, concrete, and soil tests and maintain testing logs

• Document non-conformances and Prepare compliance and certification packages

• Monitor material delivery and approvals. Review mix design and verify lab equipment calibration

• Coordinate sampling with contractors, support audits with records and maintain material traceability.

• Review the Contractor's material submittals and obtain the required approvals according to the applicable standards and project specifications.

• Serves as the focal point for the scheduling and control of construction materials and equipment at the job site

• Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.

• Coordinates work of subconsultants for material testing

• Maintains office files related to the project, material inspections and writes daily diaries.

• Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract

• Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work

• Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems on construction materials, and reports to supervisor with proposed solution

• Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.

• May provide technical guidance to lower-level

• Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports

• Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures

• Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts

• Observe, check and record works execution is in accordance with approved methods

• Check material delivered are as approved and properly stored

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• B.Sc. Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of O&M experiences) practical O&M experience in the specific roads & infrastructure works.

• Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment

• Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs

• Should be registered as practicing engineers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi or should have an equivalency certificate.
