1. Basic Function and Scope:
Carries out general workshop repairs and maintenance on equipment returned from the work locations for repair and/or storage in Company Warehouse, or fabrication of new equipment and tools for use on the field. Keeps detailed record cards of all work carried out. Assists in the preparation of field requisitions for obtaining spare parts. Assists in reporting time charges and spare parts and materials used. Gives work directions to Assistant Mechanics and Helpers
2. Duties Performed:
a. Receives work orders and instructions from supervisor, evaluates jobs, and determines skill level required. Prepares requisitions for materials or equipment required, arranges transport or other essentials and provides technical advice or instruction as necessary.
b. Performs installation, maintenance and repair work requiring experience and a high degree of skill on mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressed air system, engines and machinery. Includes fabricating or replacing parts of the said equipment, adjusting to required specifications and testing before installation.
c. Directs and participates in the work of other personnel making more routine repairs to mechanical equipment. Includes checking work progress, of less experienced mechanics, providing technical instruction, answering emergency calls to repair pumps, compressed air system, engines and machinery; and inspecting completed work for proper operation and conformity to craft and safety standards.
d. Repairs, overhauls and reconditions equipment by dismantling, replacing or repairing parts. Includes disassembling units or component parts, establishing faults, obtaining and installing appropriate part, or mending or fabricating same, using bench grinders, drill press, welding and soldering equipment.
e. Tests equipment after repair and during regular preventive maintenance checks. Includes checking normal operation, immediately repairing minor faults, and using a variety of electrical testing equipment, such as ammeters, voltmeters, hematic tester; to detect leaks or breakdown in systems.
f. Ensures proper implementation of the scheduled maintenance programs in accordance with manufacturers instructions and instructions from the supervisor.
g. Assists the Storekeeper in reporting spare parts and materials used and time charges incurred. Assists in the preparation of requisitions to obtain spare parts and materials from the warehouse.
h. Knows the Company s health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility and ensure that they are effectively implemented in his domain. Ensures by appropriate monitoring and review, the work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Ensures effective accident investigation and follow up.
i. Carries out other similar or related duties such as participating in evacuation, recharging and cleaning general mechanical equipment answering emergency calls, observing all fire and safety regulations, cleaning job sites and workshops, salvaging parts and materials where possible.
Trouble shooting skills in Hydraulic Systems and solid handling systems
Experience a must in Oil and Gas field
Maintenance and operation of pumps, compressors, valves, internal combustion engines.
Welding & Fabrication.
A/C & Refrigeration.
