Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
A Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC chilled water systems designs, installs, and commissions hydronic systems (chillers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs) to meet building cooling loads. Responsibilities include HVAC load calculations, piping design, energy efficiency optimization, site supervision, and ensuring compliance with standards, with 5-10+ years of experience typically required for senior roles. Key Responsibilities System Design & Calculation: Perform heating/cooling load calculations, size chillers, pumps, expansion tanks, and pipework for chilled water distribution. Drawings & Specifications: Develop and review HVAC shop drawings, layout schematics, and BOM (Bill of Quantities) using AutoCAD/Revit. Installation & Site Supervision: Supervise installation of air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and piping, ensuring compliance with approved designs and codes. Testing & Commissioning: Oversee Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of chilled water systems to ensure optimal efficiency and performance. Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve operational issues with chillers, cooling towers, and pumping systems. Energy Management: Implement energy-saving strategies for central plants and HVAC systems.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: Experience with chiller system, HVAC, and site installation (often 5+ years). Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load calculation software. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of hydronic systems, thermodynamics, and local building codes. Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license is often required for senior positions.
