Job Description
The MEP Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the planning and design of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in various types of buildings and facilities. This position involves working alongside architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that all systems meet project requirements, comply with regulations, and are efficient and sustainable. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background in MEP engineering principles, have exceptional problem-solving skills, and demonstrate an ability to work seamlessly in collaborative environments. This role requires both broad and detailed technical knowledge, as well as the creativity and flexibility to tailor solutions to each unique project. The MEP Design Engineer is expected to keep abreast of technological developments and apply best practices to design, optimize systems, and improve project delivery processes to add value and seek continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to meet project specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers for integrated system designs.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure design adherence and quality standards.
- Utilize computer-aided design software for system design and modifications.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy.
- Evaluate the feasibility of different design methodologies and performance outcomes.
- Stay updated with MEP trends and integrate sustainable practices in designs.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to stakeholders and team members.
- Optimize design solutions for cost, performance, and environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
- Provide technical support during project implementation and resolve related issues.
- Plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in MEP design and project management.
- Proficiency with CAD software and other design and simulation tools.
- Strong knowledge of current building codes and regulations in MEP fields.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple projects.
