Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary: The MEP Fit-Out Engineer is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and executing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within interior fit-out projects. The role ensures that all MEP installations are completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, local regulations, and client requirements, while maintaining project timelines and quality standards. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Planning & Coordination • Review MEP design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submittals for compliance with project specifications. • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, interior designers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems within the fit-out works. • Prepare MEP installation schedules aligned with the overall project timeline. • Participate in project kick-off and coordination meetings with stakeholders. 2. Site Supervision & Execution • Supervise on-site MEP installation works (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, ELV systems, etc.). • Ensure all works are executed according to approved drawings and safety standards. • Conduct inspections for concealed services prior to closure of ceilings/walls/floors. • Verify material quality, installation methods, and workmanship. • Monitor progress and report daily/weekly updates to the Project Manager. 3. Testing, Commissioning & Handover • Prepare and execute testing and commissioning (T&C) plans for all MEP systems. • Coordinate with third-party testing agencies, consultants, and clients during inspection and handover. • Ensure all as-built drawings and O&M manuals are properly prepared and submitted. 4. Compliance & Documentation • Ensure all MEP works comply with local authority regulations (e.g., DEWA, DM, Civil Defense, etc., depending on region). • Maintain updated records of approvals, inspections, and quality control checklists. • Manage material submittals, RFIs, NCRs, and method statements. 5. Health, Safety, and Quality • Enforce safety protocols and ensure MEP subcontractors adhere to site HSE requirements. • Conduct toolbox talks and coordinate with the Safety Officer. • Implement quality assurance procedures for MEP works. ________________________________________ Qualifications & Skills: • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering. • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in MEP fit-out or interior projects. • Technical Skills: o Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV systems. o Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and MS Office. o Knowledge of local authority standards and codes. • Soft Skills: o Excellent communication and coordination abilities. o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. o Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. ________________________________________ Typical Employers: • Interior fit-out contractors • MEP contracting companies • Design-build firms
