Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Develop and deliver MEP design solutions (HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting/Fire Alarm, Electrical, ELV as applicable) in line with project requirements, applicable codes/standards, and authority regulations. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive MEP design reviews, ensuring calculations, layouts, load schedules, equipment selections, and design assumptions are technically sound, coordinated, and buildable. Supervise and coordinate MEP Design Engineers and Draftsmen to produce accurate drawings, schematics, layouts, details, and schedules aligned with approved design intent and project milestones. Implement robust quality checks and control measures on all MEP deliverables (design calculations, drawings, reports, submission packages), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency before issuance. Ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination with Structural/Architectural teams to identify clashes, resolve interface issues, and maintain coordinated design outputs. Manage preparation and submission of MEP authority approval packages, ensuring all required documentation is complete, compliant, and submitted within the agreed timelines. Liaise effectively with Authorities, Clients, and Consultants to address technical queries, clarifications, and review comments, ensuring timely closure and approvals. Arrange, attend, and lead meetings with Authorities / Clients / Engineers / Consultants to present designs, justify technical selections, and secure approvals. Develop and propose value engineering initiatives to optimize cost, energy efficiency, material usage, and constructability without compromising quality, safety, performance, or compliance. Provide technical guidance and ongoing support to the site execution team, including resolving site coordination issues, responding to RFIs, issuing clarifications/revisions, and supporting inspection approvals. Maintain proper records of design revisions, submissions, approvals, and correspondence, ensuring clear document control and traceability throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate and manage MEP authority submissions and approvals (e.g., DM/DEWA/Civil Defense and other project-specific authorities), ensuring all drawings, calculations, and documents meet the required standards and timelines. Liaise with Authorities, Clients, Consultants, and internal design/site teams to resolve technical comments, close out queries, and secure timely NOCs/approvals. Maintain strong document control and quality checks for MEP deliverables (revisions, approvals, logs, and correspondence), ensuring full traceability and compliance throughout the design and approval process.

Requirements: Experience Total: 10 to 15 Years Relevant: 5-8 years in Contracting & Warehousing Industry Market/Geography: UAE/GCC experience only. Project/Domain Must-haves: Industrial / Design-Build / Built Technical Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering. Project/Business: Design / Estimation / Cost control
