Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The MEP Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the cost and commercial aspects related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works of construction projects. This includes cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, valuation of works, and ensuring value for money while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.


  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for MEP systems during design and pre-construction phases.
  • Evaluate and manage subcontractor and supplier quotations for MEP packages.
  • Measure quantities and value the MEP works in accordance with contract requirements (e.g., POMI, CESMM, NRM).
  • Manage and monitor variations, change orders, and claims related to MEP systems.
  • Prepare interim payment applications and final accounts.
  • Conduct regular cost and value reconciliations for MEP packages.
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure cost control and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of contracts, including FIDIC and bespoke forms.
  • Support procurement and tendering processes for MEP subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure that all work complies with relevant legal, environmental, and safety regulations.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, MRICS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • 3–7+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor with specific exposure to MEP works.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Proficient in quantity take-off and cost estimation tools (e.g., Cost X, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
  • Familiarity with contract forms such as FIDIC, JCT, or NEC.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
