The Nurses, also called Nursing Care Consultants (NCC) are responsible for keeping patients’ records updated on regular basis with the patients’ details, treatment outcomes and activities. Facilitate successful communication between patients, physicians and third party payers that leads to shared motivation to achieve treatment goals. Ensure continuous patient education, motivation, consultation and follow up. Monitor patients’ adherence. Recommend and lead programs at the country level which are likely to improve patient adherence and persistence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Introduce to physicians the role of the nursing care consultant (NCC) and their purpose to assist them in giving their patients the best out of the treatment they have prescribed.
Have a consent form signed by the physician to allow the NCC to contact his/her patients for education, follow ups and collection of health information.
Have a consent form signed by the patient and acknowledged by the treating physician to allow the NCC to teach him/her self-injection, follow up on his general health status, treatment outcomes and adverse events (if spontaneously reported), collect relevant health information and update the treating physician periodically.
Manage a database of patients with the complete database to be updated for treatment initiation, efficacy, any findings upon follow up (SEs, infections, surgeries), emotional status, change in physician, changes in doses, etc. through routine house visits to patients.
Visit the physicians regularly (as per project plan) to present updates on their patients.
Educate patients/parents/family members to understand the disease and deal with it in a better way.
Explain the potential for adverse effects.
Highlight the importance of regular check-ups and doctor’s visits during the course of the treatment as ordered by the physician.
Provide emotional support to patient and family
Drive adherence to therapy to optimize treatment outcomes.
Educate patients on how the medication impacts their disease & physician’s instructions
Remind patients of prescription refill dates & doctor’s appointments
Call all patients at agreed frequency to follow up on their adherence to treatment, response level and any other complaint they might have.
Submit to the direct manager aggregate data on patients’ adherence on monthly basis or whenever needed
Gather all the detailed data from the patient and report promptly to as per local Pharmacovigilance SOPs
Patients attending conferences and meetings with Physicians.
Organize Patients support groups meetings and activities in coordination with the treating physicians.
Present talks on disease and adherence to patients’ groups and other nurses when required.
As the ideal Nursing Care Consultant, you should be or have;
A licensed Registered Nurse in Kuwait.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing care.
An outgoing personality to meet with doctors and other healthcare profesionals.
Excellent Presentation skills and effective communication skills in English & Arabic (preferred).
