Job Purpose Statement

Performs the timely & correct loading/offloading of trucks & ULDs and scans & sorts packages using established working methods & complying with relevant P&P. Performs all related support duties and provides contingency cover as & when required.
Supports the Manager/Team Leader by regularly performing additional defined duties including work preparation, conducting of procedural checks, completion of paperwork, updating of systems information plus resolution of exception situations.

Key Accountabilities

Uses mandatory safe working practices in storing and/or loading packages against set loading parameters (e.g. destination split, value split, commodity type etc). As required uses established stacking methods to load vehicles & ULD’s.
Includes the use of ad-hoc lifting equipment such as fork lift, pallet jack etc.

Removes all debris & spent paperwork from the ULD prior to usage & maintains a clean & safe work area throughout the shift. At appropriate times checks to ensure that no packages remain unprocessed. Ensures all spent paperwork is removed from the ULD pouches, the container is entirely empty & the doors are closed.

Retrieves & processes, or prepares, all necessary paperwork with accurate details of operational transactions & issues encountered. Provides timely delivery to required areas/departments. Checks specific details within defined screens of a system/s to ensure accurate information flow & scan compliance.

Stores/releases different types of shipments in accordance with defined procedures & local regulatory requirements (custom).

Retrieves & processes all necessary paperwork & provides timely delivery to required areas/departments. Checks specific details within defined screens of a system/s to ensure accurate information flow & scan compliance.

Performs pre-work checks to ensure that all equipment is available & functional & any issues are either resolved or reported to the correct department/area. Ensures sufficient supplies of daily consumables are in place.

Inspects ULD’s for airworthiness in accordance with defined procedures and performs visual checks on packages to identify possible damage. Reports immediately to the relevant area/department using agreed tools /procedures.

Accurately weighs ULD’s & completes closeout slips & transmits relevant data to the ramp area. Performs scale verification checks & ensure filing of records in accordance with P&P.

Performs pre-checks on scanners/systems to ensure that everything is in place ready for the scanning to begin. Performs appropriate scans of all packages to ensure correct flow of packages/
documents & communications through the systems. Performs labelling of all/defined packages as per local requirements.

Ensures that the printers/equipment & general supplies are maintained at adequate levels throughout the shift.

Uses x ray equipment to check specific package types in accordance with locally defined procedures. Identifies and highlights any suspect packages for inspection.

Accurately sorts all (including complex exceptions) packages/documents taking account of multiple factors such as ZIP codes, conveyable/non-conveyable, URSA codes etc., in accordance with local requirements. Supports ‘Handlers’ with resolving exceptions & reports locally defined ‘special package types’ to management.

Accurately completes different types of use forms with details of operational transactions & issues encountered.

Performs proceduralized, regular & ad-hoc warehouse checks to identify & locate specific packages, as required.

Supports the achievement of service commitments by performing any related support duties and/or contingency cover as required.
