Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads staff to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements

  • Ensure suitable resources are in place to establish and maintain a safe and HSE compliant working environment, including approved Safe Systems Of Work on site.

  • Ensures requirements from Plant Operating (PPC / Environmental) Permit and other relevant legal requirements are implemented

  • Ensure that a robust HSE surveillance is in place

  • Promote efficient, open and fast reporting in case of any breaches of HSE procedures to management

  • Manages the activities of the plant’s operations department through direct supervision of shift supervisors, ensuring the effective execution of their job responsibilities

  • Directs the coordination of the plant operations departments with the maintenance department in prioritizing planning and scheduling maintenance activities

  • Maintains systems for tracking plant conditions and performance, evaluating the effectiveness of operating and maintenance practices, identifying problem areas and areas for potential improvements, and measuring plant performance against financial and contractual goals

  • Participates in budget development, manages and controls operations expenditures, maintaining an active cost reduction program directed toward improved plant profitability

  • Participates in preparation of reports and presentations, and in planning and directing regularly scheduled shift supervisor meetings

  • Assures compliance with all contractual obligations, government regulations, environmental standards and all plant safety procedures and programs

  • Assuring that positions are staffed with qualified individuals, that all personnel are adequately trained, that each individual’s performance is assessed on a regular basis, that corrective action procedures are followed when appropriate

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training Certifications • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) degree or equivalent experience • Post-graduate management degree preferred • ASME / Pressure Vessel Operator certification

Job Experience & Software Competencies

  • Total working experience of 10-15 years including a minimum of 8 to 10 years hand’s on experience of operation management in the EFW or similar industry equipment and systems, with technical and/or management experience in a power generation facility and specific expertise in waste and/or resource recovery material handling.

  • Experience in the UAE preferred

  • Proficient or familiar with systems commonly used in industrial, engineering, or Waste-to-Energy environments e.g. as below:

    - ERP & Enterprise Systems: SAP (MM, PM, PP), Oracle NetSuite, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Project & Maintenance Management: Primavera P6, MS Project, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM - Procurement & Supply Chain Tools: SAP Ariba, Oracle Procurement Cloud, Coupa, Jaggaer, SharePoint/Teams - Operations Monitoring & Analytics: SCADA/DCS dashboards, EMS, Power BI - Productivity & Reporting: Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Adaptability: Demonstrate reliability, high ability to work under pressure, social competency, ability to manage conflict, assertiveness and service oriented. Ability to manage any changes such technical, organizational, social and cultural.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly to the team in any business changes, and encourage discussions of views, ideas and thoughts of others and demonstrate the ability to write clear reports, business correspondence and manual procedure

  • Project Management and Process: Ability to plan, manage process and implement any business project changes

  • Excellent communication (read, write and verbal) skills in English Language
