Job Purpose

At Emirates our Revenue Optimization team is responsible for managing a combination of pricing, demand, and marketing strategies. We work to maximize revenue growth for our organisation, ensuring Emirates Group continues to reach it's targets!

To develop and implement various research initiatives within the Emirates Revenue Optimisation department. Support key decisions and elements of inventory control strategy and implement continued revenue management transformation projects through the application of mathematical modelling, problem structuring and analysis to complex business problems. The Operational Research Manager will be responsible for ensuring all Operational Research and Revenue Management practises are in line with industry best practise to ensure Emirates is a recognised leader in Operational Research.

In this role, you will:

  • Continuously develop, formulate and execute revenue planning models and processes to derive Emirates annual revenue targets and rolling quarterly tactical targets.
  • Conduct quantitative strategic analysis and create revenue forecasting models to support the Revenue Optimisation, Commercial Operations and Global Sales departments.
  • Conduct iterative passenger spill and recapture scenario modelling throughout the entire booking and flight life cycle to identify optimal inventory control strategies and therefore network origin and destination passenger revenue.
  • Continuously maximise network revenue through the use and interpretation of mass data using mathematical models, operational research theories and simulations.
  • Provide rigorous analytical foundation for decision-making in order to maximize revenue per avail seat kilometre and profitability with a focus on price segmentation, competitive positioning, and channels of distribution and ultimately expanding our understanding of the market place.
  • Develop and recommend enhancements to existing tools with the goal of advancing the simulation capabilities of the organization. Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary. Use sophisticated models, simulations, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques to support, refute, or refine the theories and initiatives in the Revenue Optimisation department. This includes pricing elasticity studies, origin and destination consumer demand, customer willingness to pay and customer value models.
  • Identify and research challenges in the pricing, passenger demand forecasting and inventory management arenas, providing theoretical and statistical guidance to support the department's decisions and tap new revenue sources.
  • Support the senior members in the R&D in a large number of projects and initiatives working across departments as necessary to accomplish objectives.
  • Participate with peers from inside and outside the company at Operations Research forums, in order to keep abreast of the latest advances in the science of Revenue Management.
  • Accountable for supporting the design, research and implementation of long-term strategic, innovative projects that give a commercial edge to EK which is expected to contribute additional incremental revenue of min 1% of network revenue.
Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Qualifications: Masters Degree (12+5 or equivalent) in an analytical discipline in the area of Operational Research, Economics, Engineering or a related applied mathematical field.
  • Experience: 8+ years in Commercial/Sales/Research/Analysis.

Knowledge/Skill:

  • Experience in Operational Research applying research to revenue or yield management issues and experience in solving complex business problems. A strong focus on revenue planning, network planning or revenue management. Experience within the airline industry would be an advantage.
  • Ability to structure and define complex problems.
  • Ability to test the models using tools like R, SAS, python and related tools.
  • Ability to use data query tools to pull the necessary data from the relevant data sources for modelling.
  • Must have a proven track record of presenting complex problems and recommendations to Senior Management.
