Roles & Responsibilities
An Operations Manager in Logistics is responsible for steering and managing the overall logistics operations within a company. They focus on optimizing efficiency, driving cost-effective strategies, and ensuring the seamless distribution and storage of goods. This role requires an individual who can both strategize at a high level and dive into operations to solve day-to-day challenges. The Operations Manager will coordinate various supply chain processes, utilize advanced logistics technologies, and lead a team of logistics personnel. They will also be tasked with maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that service levels are achieved. A successful Operations Manager will balance operational efficiency with strategic goals, utilizing their leadership skills to guide their team towards achieving the company's objectives effectively.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all logistics operations including transportation and warehousing strategies.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor inventory management and ensure timely delivery of goods to clients.
- Lead and manage a team of logistics personnel to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers to streamline supply chains.
- Utilize advanced logistics software to optimize shipping schedules and processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and management regulations in logistics.
- Analyze data and performance metrics to improve logistics operations continuously.
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance and make improvement recommendations.
- Resolve logistics issues promptly to maintain service level agreements with clients.
- Design and implement cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancing projects in logistics.
- Maintain relationships with external partners including clients and logistics service providers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- Proven experience in logistics and operations management, preferably for four years or more.
- Strong understanding of logistics and inventory management software and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience in managing diverse teams in logistics.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to derive actionable insights and improvements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
