Job Description

An OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) Inspector is tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of employees in various work environments by enforcing health and safety standards. This role involves conducting comprehensive inspections, advising organizations on adherence to safety regulations, and ensuring compliance with legal standards to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. The OSH Inspector collaborates with employers to identify potential hazards, implement corrective measures, and promote a culture of safety awareness amongst employees. A successful OSH Inspector is detail-oriented, analytical, and possesses excellent communication skills to effectively work with personnel at all levels of an organization. Familiarity with relevant laws and guidelines is essential for accurately assessing workplaces and mitigating risks. An OSH Inspector plays a crucial role in maintaining safe working conditions and promoting compliance with occupational health and safety regulations to protect employees and support organizational success.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of workplaces to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Identify existing or potential safety hazards and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement effective health and safety strategies.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including observations, findings, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented safety measures and suggest further enhancements.
  • Provide training and education to employees on safety practices and policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the investigation of workplace accidents to determine cause and prevent recurrence.
  • Verify the availability and use of safety gear and personal protective equipment by employees.
  • Liaise with government agencies to ensure organizational compliance with safety legislation.
  • Ensure documentation and records related to health and safety are accurate and maintained.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and encourage proactive hazard reporting among employees.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in safety inspection, preferably in a similar industry or role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop strategic solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Certification as an Occupational Health and Safety Professional is a significant advantage.
