Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for children, utilizing age-appropriate techniques to assess visual acuity and overall eye health.

  • Diagnose and manage comprehensive pediatric eye conditions, including amblyopia, strabismus, and congenital eye disorders, ensuring tailored treatment plans.

  • Perform surgical interventions when necessary, including strabismus surgery and cataract extraction, with a focus on minimizing recovery time and maximizing outcomes.

  • Screen & treat Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).

  • Utilize advanced imaging techniques and diagnostic tools, such as OCT and fundus photography, to enhance the accuracy of diagnoses.

  • Work collaboratively with pediatricians, optometrists, orthoptists and other specialists to provide multidisciplinary care for children with complex health needs.

  • Educate patients and their families about eye health, treatment options, and preventive measures to foster a supportive environment for recovery.

  • Stay current with the latest research and advancements in pediatric ophthalmology, integrating new knowledge into clinical practice.

  • Supervise and mentor residents and medical students, providing training in pediatric eye care and surgical techniques.

  • Participate in community outreach and awareness programs to promote eye health and early detection of vision problems in children.

  • Maintain meticulous patient records and documentation to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facilitate continuity of care.


Desired Candidate Profile

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a focus on ophthalmology and a pediatric fellowship from the UK Board.

  • Preferred FRCS

  • Board certification in ophthalmology with a sub-specialty in pediatric ophthalmology, showcasing expertise in the field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in pediatric ophthalmology, demonstrating a track record of successful patient outcomes.

  • Preference for candidates with experience in both clinical and surgical settings, providing a well-rounded approach to patient care.

  • Fluency in English, with additional languages preferred to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
