Effective capacity management has become a critical differentiator for Group IT Capacity management is a key means with which Group IT teams can address their core operational objectives
Brief Description:
Capacity management is a critical endeavor for Emirates NBD Group IT to get more out of our IT investments Without comprehensive effective capacity management Group IT teams have to resort to being reactive rather than proactive This makes it difficult to manage current infrastructure capacity demands and also significantly hinders Group ITs ability to support emerging requirements and initiatives
Detailed Description:
Core operational objectives include
Maximizing resource utilization in order to reduce investments and costs
Addressing the increasingly pressing demand to support business agility
Improving visibility and transparency in terms of how business users are consuming IT resources
Understanding the usage of infrastructure and IT services and the maximum capacity of each IT component
Continually monitor IT resource usage and promptly identify capacity issues provide to Emirates NBDs capacity trending information to allow for forecasting future capacity requirements
Liaising with Incident and Problem management to assess impact of Capacity related threshold reaches and to improve Services performance
Proactively providing predictive capacity forecasts through the use of modeling trending baselining and other techniques
Developing and proposing scenarios for addressing capacity constraints and define associated costs risks and benefits of each
Accumulating information for all new or changed infrastructures and define expansion requirements
Production regular review and revision of the Capacity Plan in line with the organizations business planning cycle identifying current usage and forecast requirements during the period covered by the plan
Ensuring all changes are assessed for their impact on capacity and performance and attending CAB meetings when appropriate
Producing regular management reports that include current usage of resources trends and forecasts
Reporting and presenting on discoveries that could impact components of the infrastructure to partners at all levels
Job Requirements:
Develops and maintains one or more defined communication channels andor stakeholder groups acting as a single point of contact Gathers information from the customer to understand their needs and detailed requirements Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders using feedback to assess and promote understanding of need for future capacity changes in services products and systems Agree Changes to be made and the planning and implementation of Change Maintains contact with the customer and stakeholders throughout to ensure satisfaction Captures and disseminates technical and business information
Values expertise and capitalizes on the knowledge and skills of others within the organization Contributes own expertise to achieve outcomes for the business unit
Ensuring that there is sufficient capacity to meet service level targets
Ensure performance testing is carried out on new and modified IT services
Proactively provide sufficient IT capacity
Produce and maintain Capacity Plan
Ensure that capacityrelated incidents and problems are addressed
Ensure the creation maintenance and use of a Capacity Management Information SystemCMIS
Assesse the capacity impact of new change requests
Participate on the Change Advisory BoardCAB as needed
Monitor IT capacity levels compare actual levels against targets and address shortfalls
Builds and sustains positive relationships with team members stakeholders and clients Proactively offers assistance for a mutually beneficial relationship Anticipates and is responsive to clients and stakeholder needs and expectations
Takes personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work Shows initiative and does what is required Commits energy and drive to see that goals are achieved
Confidently presents messages in clear concise and articulate manner Focuses on key points and uses appropriate unambiguous language Selects the most appropriate medium for conveying in
Additional Details:
Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Information Systems or other related field is highly preferred however equivalent work experience will not be overlooked
5 years of experience in performance and capacity management and working with associated tool sets
4 years of experience in Finance Banking industry
2 years of experience in ITIL Service Management processes Capacity Management
Understanding of General IT Service Management policies procedures and best practices
Have understanding and experience in a capacity management background covering cloud server storage networks virtualized environments applications databases and associated tool sets
Must be good at budgets and math since forecasting statistical analysis and modeling are part of the job
