As a Phlebotomist, you will support the effective operation of the Emirates Group Medical Services Laboratory by facilitating accurate and timely sample collection and processing. This role ensures high-quality patient care through safe and professional phlebotomy, while maintaining compliance with departmental protocols and standards.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare, process, and dispatch all laboratory samples, including those for reference laboratories, ensuring timely and accurate handling through centrifugation, aliquoting, freezing, and other required methods.
- Maintain accurate and timely logs for full traceability of all samples and manage any add-on or cancelled tests with clear communication to the main laboratory.
- Liaise with clinicians and patients to ensure pre-analytical requirements are met and provide guidance on appropriate collection containers and swabs.
- Ensure proper use of all equipment, promptly report faults to Clinical Operations Management, and manage stock levels and expiry dates to ensure service continuity and minimise waste.
- Maintain professional knowledge to meet license requirements and support effective communication across the lab and wider service teams, fostering strong relationships with patients and reference laboratories.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Registered and / or licensed as a phlebotomist (or equivalent) with a recognised international body.
- Licensed to practice as a Phlebotomist by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
- As laboratory medicine is constantly evolving, the Phlebotomist is expected to use a range of professional skills in pre-analytical processing, escalating issues that may arise as appropriate.
- Accuracy of sample stability, storage and quality assurance is paramount to this role.
- Demonstrate phlebotomy competence across all age groups, including proper tube selection, sample stability, and storage requirement
